Cap City Band features a “Certified Original Lineup” meaning we rehearse, choreograph and perform with the same members at each and every event! This sounds like it would be the norm (and it should be), but there are some established entertainment organizations that will contract events first then piece together the band’s personnel from a pool of musicians… some of whom are more qualified than others and in some cases may be their first time playing for that band. This franchising practice is becoming more common in the Austin wedding band industry so we urge our friends and potential clients to do their due diligence when researching bands. PRO TIP: make sure that the musicians featured in promotional materials you watch are actually members of the bands you’re looking into!
Casey Dion
Casey Dion’s earliest memories of singing were as a young boy ad libbing along to his parents’ eclectic style of music – jazz, blues, gospel, classic rock, funk and soul. Eager to showcase and refine his natural abilities, Casey participated in many school functions and talent shows which naturally led him into becoming a contestant on American Idol, Star Search, and NBC’s The Voice. His charisma, talent and personality are larger than life and he’s really come into his own as a lead vocalist in Cap City Band!
Suzanne Van Velson
Suzanne Van Velson grew up performing in musical theater since she was 3 years old and has been hooked ever since. Her passion for music pushed her to study classical music, theater and opera at Lamar University where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. Since 2008, she has consistently worked in the professional music industry with several top bands (Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes, Memphis Train Revue, The Grooves, Matt Wilson Band, The Sophisticates, and more.) When not on stage, Suzanne enjoys spending time with her daughters Simone and Stevie Mae.
Matt Raines
Matt Raines, a Rhode Island native now residing in Austin,TX, embarked on his musical journey at the age of 11. He’s performed on cruise ships, in numerous intimate jazz venues and countless Texas Honky Tonks, embracing a wide array of musical genres. With two albums to his credit, his music mirrors a lifetime of devotion and passion for his craft.
